ELA Common Core State Standards
The Common Core State Standards are slated for implementation in Michigan for the 2011-12 school- year. In response to this curricular shift, the Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District has partnered with teacher leaders from our constituent districts to scope-and-sequence the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) by marking period.
Our grade specific documents include the CCSS, a translated, student-friendly learning target, and an indication of how the new CCSS align with the previously identified Power Standards and Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations.
These documents represent our first exposure to these standards, and will need to be paired with Appendix A, Appendix B, and Appendix C from the English/Language Arts CCSS in order to help educators gain a clear understanding of the curriculum expectations.
